The seasons
Spring (March to May):
Spring is ideal for hiking in the Serra de Tramuntana, with pleasant temperatures and green, flowery landscapes.
The beaches are less crowded than in summer, making it an ideal time to discover secluded coves and enjoy the tranquility. The water may still be a little cold, but Mallorcans usually take their first dip in early April. Mallorca's ravines are still accessible at the beginning of the season but gradually dry out.
The local markets come alive with a wide variety of fresh produce and the first tourists arrive.
Summer (June to August):
Summer is the high season for tourism in Mallorca, but if you explore the less frequented areas you will be able to avoid the crowds.
The beaches are very crowded, but if you look for secluded spots, you will find some lesser-known coves that are more difficult to reach (e.g., no parking, a short 30-minute walk, etc.). Be careful, you will need to arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the crowds.
Local festivals and cultural events abound during this period. Temperatures rise, so adventurers can start their excursions early to enjoy the tranquility of hiking trails, coves for activities or caves to explore.
Autumn (September to November):
Autumn is a pleasant time to visit Mallorca, as temperatures remain mild and the sea remains warm, allowing for a variety of seaside excursions.
Hiking in the Tramuntana mountains offers spectacular views of the changing colors of the landscape. The roads empty of buses and rental cars, making way once again for the brave cyclists.
It is harvest time in the island's vineyards, making it an ideal place for food and wine tourism.
Winter (December to February):
Winter in Mallorca is mild, with temperatures rarely dropping below 10ºC but with more wind and rain.
It is a quiet time on the island, ideal for those seeking peace and quiet.
Activities such as hiking, cycling and exploring the picturesque villages are still possible, although some resorts may be closed. Above all, thanks to the rains, the torrents fill up and it is the ideal opportunity for canyoning in the Mallorcan mountains.
